This musical follows Georges Seurat, a 19th-century French painter, as he obsessively works on his masterpiece. His devotion to art isolates him from his lover, Dot, and those around him. In the second act, the story jumps a century forward to his fictional great-grandson, also named George, a contemporary artist struggling with creative stagnation and the pressure of innovation. Across time, the show explores the tensions between art and life, passion and legacy, and the challenge of making meaningful work.
